The Exchange and Empower project kicked off with an afternoon tea and Q&A session with Mira Rai at Deer Horn in Mui Wo on 14 January this year. Mira and Keilem Ng from Hong Kong Trail Running Women shared the project concept with the group of 17 people who attended. The discussion was fruitful with a lot of positive feedback and expressions of interest in volunteering, so it was decided that the initiative would go ahead!

This was followed up by a first fundraising social event two weeks later on 28 January. Some 20 people turned up to enjoy a post-HK100 Happy Hour with Mira at Pizza Express in Central. The evening was an opportunity for Exchange and Empower supporters and volunteers to mingle and for Mira to share her experience of running the iconic HK100 ultra race, where she placed second female. More fundraising ideas were discussed and the event raised a fantastic 5000HKD.

A variety of other events are in the pipeline, so watch this space, or stay up to date by joining the Facebook group.
